I FOUND it quite disappointing to see the Surrey Herald had highlighted on the front page some of the problems experienced at St Peter's Hospital.
Obviously these incidents are serious but what about all the excellent work achieved each day at the hospital? No hospital can be perfect and the general public themselves have a lot to answer for regarding general hygiene.
Just to see the way people turn up for outpatient appointments - flip flops and shorts - says a lot. I should know as I work there.
The infection control team do an excellent job at trying to keep infection at bay.
As for suggesting the re-introduction of a matron (as someone has) would help to combat the problem, I think it is totally unrealistic.
Instead, let's be grateful that we have such a superb hospital on our doorstep as the NHS cannot continue to operate forever as we have been so used to.
Everyone is learning from mistakes and the utmost is done to prevent re-occurrence.
If the general visiting public to the hospital were to check their own hygiene standards, it would go a long way to ensuring better results.
