NEWS of Carpet Right coming to Walton has incensed me enough to make the following comments regarding the town and its future.
There is an existing retail outlet in Bridge Street which offers good quality flooring with competitive prices.
Why accept another at this location especially when Carpet Right is more known and suited to be on the outskirts of town where ease of access exists? Who allows these decisions to be processed?
I have come to realise that there appears not to be any process where companies wishing to occupy units within the town are vetted as to their suitability.
In order to build sustaining businesses throughout the Walton, would it not be prudent to explore the needs of the community and not rely purely on financial reasoning?
More needed in Walton is a department store which can provide dresswear and fashion for men and females of middle age.
Walton is fast becoming known for its estate agents, eating establishments, building societies and boutiques for the young only.
We are in the process of having at least three more premises being vacated at a major junction in the heart of Walton.
Let us see if any inspiration and imagination can be applied to having retail outlets which improve the image of Walton.
Poor judgment results in a poor, unrespected town.
