'A liar and a creep'

Gabrielle King

A friend of murdered Englefield Green woman Gabrielle King says her ex-boyfriend David Angel probably killed her after she publicly refused to marry him.

Ian Healy, who used to socialise in the same group of people as the pair, said Angel was an 'evil, creepy man' who was often violent towards women.

Speaking after Angel was jailed for life last week after admitting murder, he added: "She had jokingly asked him to marry her, I think when she was drinking.

"Afterwards she realised what she had done and told him in front of a lot of people that she wouldn't marry him. We thought it was funny, but I think now that was probably one of the reasons he killed her."

Mr Healy, of Corby Close, Englefield Green, added: "We used to hang around together as a group, but I never liked the bloke.

"He was a liar and a creep."

He said Gabrielle ended her relation-ship with Angel months before her death, but he pursued her, sometimes stealing her dog, a Jack Russell called Chelsea, to force her to see him.

Mr Healy added: "That's the kind of man he was. He behaved terribly towards women. He was aggressive."
