While her friends were toiling over their revision and worrying about their results, Ella Kirby's mind was elsewhere - she was dreaming of medals at London 2012.
Despite training 18 hours a week in the pool, Ella, who came fourth in the national junior championships breastroke race two weeks ago, managed to pick up four As and four Bs in her GCSEs.
The St David's School, Ashford, pupil said: "It was quite difficult to fit my work around my training but I have done better than I thought I would.I wasn't really nervous - I've just been so busy with the swimming that I haven't had time to think about it."
She was one of many successes at St David's, an independent girls' school in Stanwell Road, where with 95% A*-C grades they achieved their best ever results.
Headmistress Tessa Smith said: "Our girls have not just lived up to our high expectations, they have surpassed them."
