CCTV images of a man who disembarked a train at Egham after robbing a commuter have been released by British Transport Police.
Officers hope the photos will jog the memory of a member of the public who will recognise the man after its invesigation into robbery, which occured in January, failed to identify him.
A spokesman said a 41-year-old business man, was working on his laptop in the first class carriage of a train travelling between Staines and Egham when he was approached by a black male.
He added: "The victim was minding his own business and was working away on his laptop when another male entered the carriage and sat down opposite him and started making conversation.
"The victim said the man then began demanding money and intimated he had a knife in his pocket and made threats towards the victim. The man then began helping himself to the victim’s laptop, blackberry and other valuables including cash and a credit card. He packed all the goods in the victim’s briefcase and then got up and left the train at Egham.
"The incident, which occurred on January 12, was captured on CCTV and we’re releasing several stills today in the hope that someone may recognise the black male and assist us. We’ve been following several leads, but have at this stage been unable to identify the male.
"He is described as being about 5ft 11 inches tall, he was aged 20-26, was wearing a thin dark-coloured jacket with a hood and dark trousers. It is believed the male used the name Jamal during the robbery. He also told the victim he was headed to Slough and needed a lift to Langley."
Anyone who can identify the man is asked to contact British Transport Police by calling freefone 0800 40 50 40 and quoting background log B2 of 29/4/2009.
