Violent brawl in quiet Shepperton cul-de-sac

A BLOODY two-man brawl spiralled between two quiet Shepperton streets nearly three miles apart on Sunday evening.

A baseball bat was involved in the fight, which resulted in both men suffering injuries and damage to two cars.

The incident started in Pentland Avenue between 7pm-7.25pm, where damage was done to a black Citroen Saxo, which had a window smashed and its windscreen damaged.

The men carried on their feud and reached Birch Avenue, a cul-de-sac, where the front windscreen of a white Vauxhall Corsa was damaged.

Startled neighbours in Birch Avenue reported a stand-off and police were called, discovering the cars at either ends of the road.

One resident, who didn't want to be named, said: "I was doing the washing up and saw the police walking down the road, which I thought was odd for a Sunday night. Then I saw a young lad in a police car being interviewed with a smashed-up face, blood was dripping down it. There were more police at the other end of the road and someone else being interviewed."

Another said: "There was glass all over the road and I didn't know what was going on at first. Then I saw all the police and realised it was something serious."

A police spokesman confirmed a weapon was recovered at the scene and that two men had suffered injuries as a result of the fight.

A 25-year-old man from Feltham was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and criminal damage. A 50-year-old man from Shepperton was arrested on two counts of criminal damage and a public order offence. Both have been released on bail until May 25.
