Princess Anne visits Shepperton Studios
The Princess Royal toured the set of director Ridley Scott's new Robin Hood film during a visit to Shepperton Studios today.
Princess Anne was given a private tour of the sets and wardrobes for "Nottingham", as well as a set from Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, which are currently being staged at Shepperton.
Traditional craft skills remain an essential part of the filmmaking process and to demonstrate this, the Princess Royal was introduced to crew members and apprentices in the fields of carpentry, costume design, set design and model-making whilst viewing their work.
Pinewood’s Group corporate affairs director Andrew Smith said: “We were delighted to be able to host the Princess Royal and show her first hand the range and quality of skills in the British film industry.”
The royal visitor was greeted by enthusiastic crowds and was introduced by Adrian White CBE, deputy lieutenant of Surrey, to dignitaries including the High Sheriff of Surrey, Mrs Angela Fraser, chairman of Surrey County Council, Michael Jennings, and Spelthorne Mayor Cllr Simon Bhadye.
