THE Thorpe Players are breaking new ground with their upcoming production of Jane Austen’s classic novel, Pride and Prejudice.
Not only is it a European premiere for the adaptation, but it also features the first time the group has had a mother and daughter acting the roles of the fluttering Mrs Bennet and her second daughter Lizzie.
The show runs at Thorpe Village Hall until Saturday June 13 and features Dee and Angie Bews.
The pair have both been members for many years, but this is the first time that they have acted together.
Director Sharon Young said she searched for a version of the story that did not stray too far from the original novel published in 1813, and felt this one by Jon Jory did that. She said: “I am excited and nervous at staging such a well-known and well-loved classic, but I know my cast will meet the challenge and they and the audience will enjoy the humour and charm of the play.”
Tickets cost £9 and can be booked on 07923 583295.
