DESPITE the storm of public anger surrounding its MP, Spelthorne Conservative Association appears to be standing by David Wilshire.
Chairman Graeme Reid says the 500-member group has not lost confidence in Mr Wilshire and feels it would be wrong to “pass judgment”.
But he admitted the association will be "taking soundings" from members ahead of the next election.
“People are to quick to form conclusions without knowing the facts,” he said. “There is nothing yet that has come out that hasn’t been explained.
“He has claimed expenses in a way he feels most appropriate for his constituents. We are in no hurry to make any judgments and we do not have the power to call on an MP to stand down.
“We will be taking soundings as we would normally prior to any general election. We have not lost confidence in him."
