A woman cyclist was in collision with a car in Stanwell Moor Road
A woman cyclist was killed on Friday following a collision with a car in Stanwell Moor Road, Staines.
The accident involving a blue Peugeot 306 and the cyclist, who was in her 40s, occurred at 6.34pm. She was flown by air ambulance to King's Hospital, London, but she died later the same day.
The crash is the second serious incident in the road in just over a month.
Eye witness Stephanie Appleton, of neighbouring Stanwell New Road, said: "I saw a police helicopter and an air ambulance. The whole road was closed by the police for a good few hours, and there was traffic going back a long way. It is a dangerous road, and something needs to be done."
On Thursday May 21 a motorbike collided with a car on the same road, and a 54-year-old man air lifted to Royal Surrey Hospital, in Guildford.
Kelly Smith, of Stanwell New Road, said: "It is a dangerous road, and we see police down here quite a lot. It is especially dangerous with motorbikes. There was another crash in May where I saw an air ambulance land.
"I think something needs to be done to make it safer, like putting in speed bumps or cameras, as quite a lot of cars speed around the bend."
Another Stanwell New Road resident said: "It is a 50 mph road at the moment, so I think they should make it a 30mph speed limit round the first bend as it would make the road safer. It is a terrible thing that happened, but people do speed down the road a lot, especially bikes."
