Pony ride from Stanwell to Staines raises cash

Horse riding fundraiser

AN ANIMAL-LOVING teenager and her friends donned fancy dress and rode ponies from Stanwell to Staines and back to raise money for charity.

Thomas Knyvett pupil Katie Heath, 15, had to think up a money-making scheme as part of her school work and, being a horse lover, decided to get her pony Blaze involved in a fancy dress hack.

After getting her friends involved and finding some more ponies from the Horton Road stables in Stanwell Moor, she managed to get £200 pledged and will give the money to animal charities.

Mother Sharon said: "They all looked fabulous in their colourful outfits and got lots of admiring comments. The weather stayed kind to us after all the rain we have had but was very cold. They all needed hot drinks on their return."
