Thorpe Park asks thrill seekers to spend a penny
Thorpe Park is asking for urine samples in an effort to find a 'signature stench' for its latest attraction - a live action horror maze.
Saw Alive is the latest park attraction to tie-in with the Saw horror film franchise, following the success of Saw - The Ride, which launched last year.
As an incentive, the park bosses are offering up £500 cash to the person who submits the winning sample and is setting up special deposit booths at the park between 11am and 2pm tomorrow (Friday 26).
The winning smell will be recreated for the new attraction, and the lucky job of picking the winning wee falls to the park's entertainment manager, Laura Sinclair.
She said: "‘We want Saw Alive to be as authentic and terrifying as possible to make visitors feel as if they are living in a real life horror film.
"To do this we need to really push the boundaries of what our guests experience from a sensory point of view with the use of smells, special lighting and effects such as electrocution and vibrating floors that will create a full-on attack of the senses.
"We’ve begun creating some of the stenches of Saw Alive but need the help of the public to create the most realistic and unsavoury urine odour. We are looking for a sample that will really get the public gagging."
The live action horror maze opens on March 18 and will feature six traps depicting the most grisly and iconic scenes from the six Saw films released to date. The signature stench will be pumped into the iconic washroom scene of the Saw movies, to recreate a truly gut wrenching sensory experience.
Thorpe residents' association member, Brian Relph, said the smelly attraction was not likely to cause them any concern.
He said: "As long as the maze falls within the perimeters of the main development area I don't think we would be to concerned as it's far enough away from the ward to worry anyone. Besides, the prevailing wind blows the other way anyway."
