James Fogg
HOORAY! At last we've had two male entries for our modelling competition.
We've had a great response from girls and women who want to be the face of Elmbridge Fashion Week but so far the entries from fathers, brothers, boyfriends and husbands have remained thin on the ground.
Twenty models will be chosen to take part in Elmbridge Fashion Week, which takes part in March and the overall winner could scoop a top cash prize of £250.
James Fogg, 19, from Molesey Road, Hersham, was shocked on Monday December 8 to find his mum had entered him. He said: "It was a nice surprise. I know my mum does these things on the spur of the moment, things that she thinks will be a good idea but if I get through it should be fun."
His mum Theresa said: "I suppose I am just being the typical biased mother. Every mother thinks their children are the best-looking in the world. Other people have suggested in the past that he should do modelling.
"I thought this would be a great experience for him. We all need to have many experiences in life to make us who we are,"
Freddie Tavengwa's girlfriend Lisa Balister nominated him for the competition.
Mr Tavengwa, 30, from Stanwell said: "I've never entered a competition in my life and when my girlfriend suggested I enter this I thought why not? It would be a good experience."
The show runs from March 13-15 at Walton Playhouse in Hurst Grove, Walton.
Organiser, Theresa Chambers, who runs the event along with the Mayor's Office said: "We do need more men so we really do need girlfriends, mums, wives and daughters to enter the men in their lives."
There are four categories for aspiring catwalk stars to enter, and all the photos of the nominees will be featured in a special edition of the paper and on our website in January, where Herald readers will vote for their favourites.
The show wants models in the following categories, girls and boys aged between five and 14-years-old, teenagers aged between 14-20 years old, men and women aged between 30 and 35 years old, and men and women aged 50 plus
Men taking part should be 5ft 9ins tall or more and women 5ft 5ins or over.
Prospective models have to agree to publicity and be available for audition on Sunday February 8 at Weybridge Village Hall in Church Street.
