Bank team's good deed

STUDENTS at Thamesmead School, Shepperton, returned from their summer holidays to a resource centre newly-decorated by 13 volunteer bank workers.

The centre, which houses IT and library facilities, had been in urgent need of a revamp and head teacher Peter Rodin was only too happy to welcome the volunteers from the commercial banking team of the Royal Bank of Scotland, based at Heathrow.

Relationship manager, Graham Chaston, has worked with the school for almost a year and when the call came, was delighted to help.

He and his team spent a week at the Manygate Lane school, painting steel girders and walls.

He said: "We really enjoyed working there - it was a real team bonding exercise and extremely rewarding. We know the students and teachers really appreciate the clean, modern look the centre now benefits from."
