Banging on about Afrika fusion

PUPILS from St Ignatius Primary School, Sunbury, learned a spot of African culture during a visit from a specialist company.

Head teacher Myra Neves was inspired to invite an instructor from Afrikan Fusion to the Green Street school, on Wednesday last week, through its links with a school in Tanzania.

Year 4 children learned African dances and how to play drums, as well as being taught about African culture.

The school has secured a partnership with St Joseph's Millennium Primary in Dar es Salaam, whose head teacher visited St Ignatius earlier this year.

Mrs Neves, who is due to travel to St Joseph's in October, said: "We thought it would be good because we wanted the children to look at a different culture. They loved every minute of it."
