Christine's goodbye after 22 years teaching at St Jude's

A well-loved teacher has retired and driven out the school gates she has come through every morning for 22 years, for the last time.

Christine Davies, 60, was a year six teacher at St Jude's Primary School, Englefield Green, and celebrated her retirement partying with family, friends and former colleagues.

Mrs Davies began her teaching career in south London, but has been at St Jude's since 1986 and some of her ex-pupils have children of their own enrolled at the school now.

On Thursday, the children performed a leaver's assembly for Mrs Davies, singing a specially re-worded version of the Leaver's Song as well as their own version of Strictly Come Dancing for their dance-mad mentor.

Head teacher, Vicki Chiverton, said: "Chris Davies has had a huge impact on the school.

"She has been loyal, hard-working and amazingly energetic."

Mrs Davies said: "I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to help, encourage and guide the children along the difficult road through their education.

"I am definitely looking forward to retirement, but I will look back with hundreds of happy memories."
