Ready for a host of golden daffodils

CHILDREN from Englefield Green Infant School and Nursery got their hands dirty doing their bit for charity when they planted 400 daffodil bulbs.

The children were joined by parents, grandparents and staff on Friday as they planted spring bulbs in the sunshine.

They had been bought to raise funds for the charity The Myasthenia Gravis Association (MGA), which cares for people with the neurological illness which can affect people of any age and damages the muscle system.

Each child bought a bulb for £1, the proceeds of which went towards the charity, and was planted as part of the School Bulb Campaign, which is sponsored by TV gardener, Alan Titchmarsh.

Head teacher Jane Sculpher said: "The planting session gave everyone a wonderful outdoor learning opportunity. The children are now looking forward to a colourful display of daffodils next spring and the creative writing and artwork which will follow."
