The head teacher of Staines Prep claims league tables are not the best way to judge a school, despite his school rising 100 places in the Sunday Times' annual Parent Power league tables.
The tables, which feature the top 250 independent preparatory schools, ranked Staines Prep, in Gresham Road, at 108, up from 208 last year.
But head teacher Peter Roberts said: "No league tables based on tests alone reflect the true value of schools, especially when some schools do not do the tests.
"It remains vitally important for schools to focus on the whole child and provide a wide range of opportunities that helps to develop their confidence and general well-being."
However, he added: "We are proud of what has been achieved at Staines Prep across a variety of activities in recent years through our commitment to continually raising standards and enhancing the pupils' experiences."
