HUNDREDS of insects invaded Kempton Park on Saturday - but they were welcome visitors.
More than 2,500 enthusiasts of all ages and from far and wide attended the annual Amateur Entomologists Society's exhibition and trade fair.
Nearly 100 exhibitors showed off all manner of creepy crawlies, from spiders, scorpions and tarantulas to dainty butterflies such as birdwings and red admirals.
Visitor Julia Ellis, from New Zealand, was amazed by the size of some of the creatures and said: "I was impressed by the hundreds of spiders and giant stick insects, some of them were absolutely enormous.
"Everyone was so enthusiastic about the creatures there; some of the exhibitors had hundreds of bugs on their stalls. I am not sure I would want them in my house though."
