Elizabeth goes into Marie mode again

Staines-based actress Elizabeth Mansfield returns to Spelthorne next month playing the lead part in the production of Marie - The Story of Marie Lloyd.

Elizabeth, who has received an Olivier nomination for her performances on the country-wide tour, takes the production to the Riverside Arts Centre, Thames Street, Lower Sunbury, on September 19 and 20.

Elizabeth, who first performed the role in 1987, said: "It's like coming back to a dear old friend and each time I play the role there's always something new to discover.

"Marie was such an amazing lady, she inspires me every time."

The show gives an insight into the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, discovering the stories in Marie's songs and weaving them through her life, as she strikes out against the hypocrisy of her day.

Tickets for the show cost £10 for adults and £8 for concessions and can be bought by calling 01784 4638899.
