Young players' dramatic success

THORPE Players are planning a series of youth drama workshops after its play-in-aday session proved to be a roaring success.

A group of eight youngsters aged between nine and 13 wrote, directed and acted in their own play - all in a single day - at the event last month.

The group says it now wants to continue working with children and teenagers with a series of evening workshops.

Sharon Young, organiser of the workshops, said: "We had six boys and two girls and I think the boys were quite influential in choosing the plot. It ended up as a western set in space with werewolves.

"It's about getting the next generation involved - we're really excited about working with young people more."

The workshops will begin on Tuesday, September 23 at Thorpe Village Hall in

Coldharbour Lane, with a session for under-14s from 7pm-8pm and another for 14-21 year-olds from 8.15pm-9.15pm. Sessions will run fortnightly and the youngsters will put on performances in December.

Workshops are included in the price of youth membership of Thorpe Players, which costs £10. For more information, call Sharon Young on 01753 860518.
