It's Valentine's day at the New Victoria

A young ballet dancer who trains at the Byfleet-based Susan Robinson School of Ballet has won a part in The Nutcracker, at the New Victoria Theatre, Woking.

Katie Valentine, from High Road, Byfleet, will be watched by her biggest fan when she takes part in the performance - her father Jack, the theatre's maintenance manager.

Jack took Katie, 10, on to the stage of the theatre when she was just five years old and told her she might one day be a professional dancer, like her mother Kim.

Kim, who now teaches ballet, made sure that her daughter had every chance to reach her potential when she started classes at Susan Robinson School of Ballet at the age of two.

Katie now attends six ballet and two modern dance classes, as well as one tap dance class, every week showing her focus and dedication to the art.

She will join a team of girls chosen from the ballet school to perform in the classical ballet, being staged from Tuesday, November 11 to Saturday, November 15.
