Ricky Wellard
AFC WIMBLEDON have promised to put in a generous future sell-on clause if they land Ashford Town (Middx) star Ricky Wellard.
The Dons have been chasing Wellard for a while and have already had one offer turned down for the under-contract midfielder.
Dons boss Terry Brown this week came back with a second offer and is this time confident of landing his man.
He said: "We’ve been tracking Ricky this past year and I hope we get him this time. We’ve put in a good offer, I’ve had good feedback from the Ashford manager, and it’s now down to the two chairmen. Ricky’s been the jewel in Ashford’s crown since he made his debut for them at 16, and they’ve put in a lot of work to make him the player he is today.
"It’s only right they are rewarded financially, if not in this first deal, then with the next one if he goes on to have a career in the professional game."
