Egham seal division two spot

SURREY CHAMPIONSHIP, DIVISION THREE Egham.....................185-9 Warlingham.....174 all out Egham won by 11 runs

Stuart Margett's half-century helped Egham to their first promotion for more than a decade with victory over rivals Warlingham on Saturday.

Mark Watmore's men needed a win to guarantee them a spot in the Surrey Championship, Division Two next season. Margetts' 50 saw the hosts post 185 in their allocated overs.

And Egham's bowling attack of Joel Boucher, Stefan Kaltner, Chris Davies and Jamie Hamilton did the rest as they skittled out the visitors with 11 runs to spare.

Egham were put into bat, and vice skipper Dave Risk was well caught at gully for 11 as they got off to a slow start.

But Richie Hall's 20 and Margetts' haul steadied the ship, before the pair were sent packing.

Watmore, Hamilton and Steve Willmore all chipped in with vital runs lower down the order as Egham's fate hung in the balance.

Warlingham got off to a good start in reply, but Boucher made the vital breakthrough.

The wickets steadily fell, before Kaltner mopped up the tail to send Egham into raptures.

The Vicarage Road-based side will clinch the title with victory at relegated Cranleigh this Saturday.
