Defiant Wharf issues warning

COMBINED COUNTIES, DIVISION ONE Staines Lammas...............4 Feltham.......................2

Nathan Wharf insists his Staines Lammas side are still in the hunt after a mixed start to the season.

The Combined Counties Division One champions have won just two of their first five games, leaving them off the pace in ninth place.

But Wharf's troops got back on track with a 4-2 win at Feltham on Monday, and warned their title rivals that they'll still be in the mix come April.

He said: "We're dark horses. Everyone is saying that we've lost a lot of players which we have, but we've also been missing our experienced lads.

"We've got them back now, and we'll be strong from now on. We're still in the hunt, but we need to get a run going."

Lammas bounced back from Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Warlingham in fine fashion.

The hosts fell behind early on to Feltham's quickly-taken free-kick, but the returning Steve Wilmore drew them level.

Chris Baker put them ahead before Jamie Redrupp - back from Ibiza - extended their lead after good work from Ashley Lodge.

Mark Pisani's goalkeeping blunder gifted the visitors a way back into the match as he clattered a Feltham forward, allowing them to pull one back from spot.

But Craig Masham made sure of the points late on.
