Two second-half goals booked CS United of Staines' place in the semi-final of the Southern Area Christian Challenge Cup with victory over St Peter's of Chertsey on Saturday.

After a goalless first-half, Alex Quinn made the breakthrough from the penalty spot after Matt Bennett was upended in the box.

Mike Burgess booked their place in the last four when he capitalised after the St Peter's keeper let the ball slip from his grasp.

Scott Rowan bagged the man-of-the-match prize, closely followed by defensive teammates David Willoughby, Tim Parfitt and Stuart Lewis.

A FINE away display sealed the points for Virginia Water at Merrow in the Surrey Intermediate Premier on Saturday.

Lee Parkes fired them in front on four minutes a a fierce 20-yard strike, and Dave Patterson headed a second.

However, Water gifted the hosts a lifeline when they capitalised on defender Dave Atkins' blunder just before the break.

But any hope of a comeback was extinguished five minutes after the interval when Gareth Evans coolly slotted home a third.

Merrow were reduced to 10 men when they had a player sent off for dissent, and Water never looked back as they cruised to victory.

PLAYER shortages didn't stop Englefield Green Rovers claiming a point at tabletoppers Wokingham on Saturday.

Illness and suspensions meant Green were missing five regulars, and had keeper Jeff Smith to thank for keeping the rampant hosts at bay with a string of saves early on.

However, Wokingham had a man sent off for the use of an elbow, and despite more pressure, captain Richard Sanford and the visitors stood firm to earn a well-deserved point.

A BATTLING display from 10-man FC Hatton couldn't prevent defeat to AFC Real on Sunday.

Despite taking an early lead through Anthony Mortley, things went downhill for the hosts from then on.

AFC hit back with two quick-fire goals, then hosts Hatton had Nicholas Campbell sent off for dissent.

Player-boss Danny Hamlett levelled matters with a long-range effort, but the visitors scored twice without reply to run out 4-2 winners.
