Former irish scrum-half goes to Saracens

FORMER London Irish scrum-half Kevin Barrett will be gunning for his old team-mates next season.

Barrett dropped out of the top flight four years ago when Irish let him go to National One side Exeter Chiefs.

And Barrett, who has been snapped up by Saracens, reckons his London Irish connection earned him a second bite of the Premiership cherry.

He said: "Although there is no grudges or bitterness, I'm looking forward to showing Irish what I can do.

"I've worked there before with Brendan Venter, who has now brought me to Saracens, so I think he knew what I was all about."

Barrett was part of the England Sevens side which won the London Sevens at Twickenham last weekend and which, after this weekend's tournament at Murrayfield, should

finish second to South Africa in the IRB World Sevens series.

He added: "For me, it's just been a privilege to play in an England jersey around the world.

"Travelling has been great, and Ben Ryan has built a fantastic squad of players who will fight for each other to the death."
