Busy week takes its toll on Ashford

BOWLS: A tired mens and ladies Ashford side lost to neighbours Staines on Sunday following an exhausting four matches in five days.

Not even a rink win of 23-15 by J Evans, A Blair,M Gammon and C Staples could prevent a 135-102 defeat. However,the rest of the week went well for Ashford, starting with a 80-46 thrashing of Hounslow Conservatives on Wednesday.

Ashford's mixed team won all four rinks, including a 26-12 victory for R Shelley, R Jones and M Fullicks.

The following day saw a narrow win over Windsor & Eton for the ladies, in which J Wilson, J Sayers and J Goulds' 22-13 rink win proved decisive in a 54-51 victory.

And on Saturday, the men recovered from last week's dismal showing to beat Isleworth 3-1 in the Richmond & Barnes League, with G Aylott, K Woodhead, B Duckworth and M Delaney top-scoring 30-11.
