Boxers show they are the white stuff

The White Collar Boxing Club at the Martial Arts Academy in Egham are gaining a solid reputation for punching above their weight on the London scene.

Alan Lacey, the man behind the Real Fight Club, the founders of White Collar Boxing in England, has given his backing to the Egham club, led by coaches Mark Lisk and Richard Harrel, which provides boxers for his shows at prestigious London venues.

Lisk said: "Alan Lacey knows he can rely on our members to have good boxing skills along with the fitness required to give a sound performance in front of large crowds. We make sure each boxer is totally prepared."

The boxers, aged 25-60, ranging from those who always wanted to box and never did, to those who need a focus to get fighting fit in a safe and friendly environment.

Last month, five members travelled to Kensington to box, accompanied by 200 supporters in a sell-out crowd.

Club owner Gary Egleton, 47, dug deep against a very good 29 yrold-broker, while regular performer Adam Handley, 40, needed all his concentration and defensive skills against a former England international.

Dale Homersham, also 40, came out on top in a war against a very strong London boxer and Paul 'Archie' Curtice, 54, had the crowd on their feet with a gutsy, all-action fight with a 6ft4ins veteran.

Dar Nabil, belied his debutant status with a relaxed and controlled performance against a strong opponent.

All the boxers are preparing for the next show in April.
