Adkins keeps up Ashford's unbeaten record at the top

Gary Adkins was unbeaten as Ashford B maintained their place at the top of Division Two in the Byfleet & District Table Tennis League.

They posted an 8-2 win over a two-man Byfleet LTC B side, with Dave Bartlett claiming two singles wins for Byfleet.

The tables were turned, however, when bottom side Woodham B held Ashford to a draw.

Alan Wiseman and Adrian Shaw took two apiece for Woodham, while Adkins once again led the way for his team with three, also winning the doubles with Doug Ager.

The honours were also shared by Woodham A and Ashford A.

Norman Slifkin, making a rare appearance for Ashford, chalked up a hat-trick of wins, backed up by one for his wife Lorna, and together they won the doubles.

For Woodham, Jim Roberts and Mike Harding won two each.

Division One league leaders Byfleet LTC A were given a fright by their C team before eventually winning 8-2.

Martin Strutt won all three, plus the doubles with Mike Barrett, for the favourites, while C-team newcomer Paulo Sale made a quick impression with two wins in the rout.
